The term Road safety refers to the precautions lied down for road usage in order to keep safety on the road.
Road usage involves many things as it mentions about anything which uses the road from pedestrian, vehicles, animal crossing and the list is endless. The first measure in the provision of road safety is played by the constructors of the road themselves. When drawing architectural plans for the road, there supposed examine every aspect for a standard road.
Term standard may refer to an approved or accepted degree or rating by the society. This means a stand road should have all the signs and quality accepted by all users of that road wherever they may be coming from. It should have road signs that can be easily interpreted like zebra crossings, parking, turn right, and turn left, one-way bridge ahead etc.
Before launching the road, responsible engineers have to examine every thing from quality of the materials used to signs put on road comparing it to the standards.
The second measure is played by the vehicles manufactures themselves. They have to be sure that the vehicles there manufacturing meets all the requirements and has all the standards for international road usage. Its size, tires, gas emissions, color, body has to be acceptable on internationally.
The drivers on the road take the third measure. A truly certified driver should have been trained, tested, and certified. A certified driver should be ensued with a drivers’ license stating clearly his class and year of experience. These licenses have to be taken back after some time for reviews and renewals.
Drivers who commit offences on the road may find their licenses canceled or pay a certain penalty.
The police take the fourth measure. The police internationally are known for keeping state laws and orders. As indicated per state there road orders and laws which one should follow for road usage. These vary greatly depending on that region’ road regulations. Some laws require drivers to keep left and others to keep right. The police have to direct drivers, help them on the roads, and enforce laws in order to keep order. This can include checking vehicles for insurances policies whether there are varied, road licenses and the state of the vehicles. In some states drivers are not required to drive while drank, so the police checks them to eliminate the habit.
The pedestrians take the fifth measure they have to respect all other road users. This can be always walking besides the road to allow movements of the vehicles on the road. Some road have footpaths main for pedestrians. They should cross the roads using zebra crossings, look left and right then left before crossing the road.
All road users have to respect each other because they all have equal rights on the road. Together we can save lives by obeying and applying road safety precautions.
