The Eclectic - A global magazine from Assam
In less then a year since it first hit the stands, The
Eclectic has established itself as the best magazine with a global perspective
in the entire Northeast of India.
It looks and feels like a real glossy and the paper quality is outstanding. In
content and coverage it has managed to leave even long running publications
behind. The Eclectic has featured young achievers from the Northeast who have
made a mark in far flung places. It regularly carries analytical articles on
the fashion industry, latest music and movies releases. The coverage includes
human interest stories, health updates and current affairs. Several interesting
and unknown places in the northeast have been covered in its pages.
The Eclectic has struck a chord with the youth
with its review of rock music, fashion, movies, education and employment
avenues in its past issues. The style and glamor quotient also adds to its
immense popularity among the youth. Besides, its coverage of global issues is
unparalleled by any other publication in the region.
The Northeast of India had its first
English language mainstream magazine in the form of the ''melange'', the Sunday
magazine supplement brought out by the regions best known and biggest media
house, the publishers of The Sentinel.
The only other magazine published from
the region is also a Sunday supplement, The Graphiti, distributed with the
Gauhati edition of the Telegraph. India Today and Outlook are the two most
popular general interest magazines in India, and they are just as popular in
the Northeast. The Eclectic has filled the vacant niche of a quality glossy from
the northeast that is able to compete with the best of India.
The Eclectic grabs you at
first sight, what with its bold and glamorous visage, catchy headlines and
eclectic coverage, literally living up to its name. It claims to have a
subscriber base throughout India
and abroad, not surprising, for the large number of Assamese students and
expatriates have hardly had any quality publication to call their own. There is
no doubt that the path ahead is tough and exciting as it is harder to sustain
the loyalty of readers in the long run than making a good first impression,
specially in the internet age. The Eclectic has a excellent opportunity to make
a lasting impression.
