The physical fitness was the sum of five motor abilities namely speed, strength, flexibility, endurance and to coordinative abilities and their complex form like strength, endurance, maximum strength, explosive strength, maximum speed and agility were the basic prerequisites of human motor action. Therefore the sports performance was depend to a greater extent on these abilities. The improvement and maintenance of specific physical fitness or condition was the main aim of sports training. Each sport requires different types of fitness training was requiring for different sports. Same sports like running requires a very high level of endurance and low level of other motor abilities. Sports like shooting and archery was not require high level of physical fitness. Physical fitness was the capacity to carry out our various reasonable well forms of physical activities without being unduly tired and include qualities improvement to the individual’s health and well being, regular participation in vigorous exercise increase physical fitness was desirable for full productive life, sedentary living habits and poor physical fitness have a negative impact on both health and daily living. Every cricketer should endeavor to become at least a reliable fielder just as he tries to become a good batsman, a good bowler, irrespective of what standard be may attain as a batsman or a bowler, his side was vigorously handicapped if he was lacking in fielding ability. He should specialized and become outstanding in particular position. A fielder who cannot throw the cricket ball from 75 yard to wicket keeper was of no use for the team because of lesser shoulder strength, hip mobility and fatigue. He was not able to throw the ball from maximum distance, muscular fitness of hip and shoulder joints was important aspect of throwing, skill deteriorates as fatigue develops when fitness fails so to were skill was often said the fielder losses accuracy and length.
It had observed by many coaches and physical education teachers that cricketers often concentrate more on their batting or bowling very pay attention towards more on their batting or bowling very pay attention towards their specific fitness. That was why there were always one or two fit players in a team, which were better than others. The purpose of the study was to assess the specific physical fitness of the 50 cricket players of M. J. P. Rohailkhand University Bareilly. The test was administered to the prior to the time of University competition at M. J. P. Rohailkhand University Bareilly cricket ground. The cricket players were going through their graduate and postgraduate courses. The data on specific physical fitness was obtained by conducting 13 specific physical fitness test constructed by Frank Tyson. The statistical technique used was simple means of the sore obtained by subjects in each component. Conclusions
Within the limitation of the present study and on the basis of findings, conclusions drawn were that:- The fifty cricket players of M. J. P. Rohailkhand University Bareilly possessed fair specific physical fitness. In 12 minutes Run Test, 40 Meter Sprint, Sit and Reach Test, Run a Three Test, Sit-ups and Vertical Jump Test the results were fair. In Step Test, Phosphate Recovery Test, Shoulder Hyper Extension Test, Fielding Agility and Hand Dynamometer Squeeze Test result were poor. In push-ups and chin-ups test results were good.
