“When A
Soldier Cries”
June 17, 2004
I called home to Alabama
today, to see how they are,
To hear what
they say about the war these days -
Mom got all teary-eyed, and Dad wouldn’t talk,
Said he didn’t have time…rather take a walk…
There’s not much to do but patrol and guard,
Once in a while, it gets kinda hard
To hold a gun and to do what you’re told,
When all you want to do is to get back home.
I cried myself to sleep in my bunk last night,
And
today I’m just a
soldier, ready to fight.
All the guys saw, but they paid no mind,
It happens to us all from time to time.
