Flood story is not, in any way, of Hebrew origin. We know today that such flood stories are present among the Babylonians and many other ancient cultures. In many of the versions of the flood story the name of the ark-builder is different, the place where the
ark came to
rest varies too. In the Babylonian version the ark comes to rest in Armenia.
The possible explanation is that there was huge flood in some of the rivers of the near east a few centuries before Moses.
