The Good in Killing a Man The good, by reasoning, brings happiness to the soul; thus what is good, if it has principles to follow, and we know it has, be it a hardened, painful or pleasurable, I regard as a principle to
achieve goodness. These principles, we have seen is applied unto man: me, you and everyone existing this hour to create order. Yet chaos was was the essence, the base and the origin where this good erupted. This is sacrifice. Either
Man kills another to get to his right path, for obviously, men are like scudding clouds shrouding your
path to happiness. In our world of competition, where millions vie to achieve happiness, where is the little child having neither mother nor father to guard him through the path to happiness. I tell you, he'll sit all alone crying in misery, imaging how happiness will be, lo, the full grown man feels no pity, but fights to get to this path. This fight is so tough, so hard that one needs not be feeble, for if the mind makes you a coward, death appears in your imaginations so quick. Then you die so young, suffering the pains you would have preempted if you fought hard. But who wants to live so short a life. Even Christians, I tell you, born again Christians desires long-life having a knowledge of the transient
nature of our world, and the sweetness of eternity in paradise. Everyone wants to live a happy life on earth wherein things are real as they are. Now, where is this happiness when this world is so evil a place, and man is this cause of this evil. Man kills man to eat. Man kills man to have sex. Man kills to satisfy a desire of revenge… And there are multitudes of endless desires lying unsatisfied; thus this act is justified by reasoning – and happiness is this thing focused by his mind to achieve. I blame no man for his wickedness. I blame no man who kills, for his deed is justified. He seeks for peace, and we’ve either heard or might have encountered one bloody fight or the other. We’ve heard of wars, conflicts and till today, it will never end. But I pray it end. This
essence is my short piece of writing, for which I took a little of my time to reason, thus, I conclude that there is an essence in killing a man. This is to achieve happiness... Inibeche Bassey
