Journalism is my life.I have been a keen and ardent follower of the media world for about a decade. The infiltration of blackmailers, men of loose virture into the media does not augur well for the future of the noble profession.Nowadays, some journalists fall easy prey to callous, money bag politicians who use them to pursue a vendetta against their opponents.
Recently,it was widely reported in the media that the South African president,Mr Thabo Mbeki said that the post election impasse in Zimbabwe doesn't amount to a crisis, but few days later, while at the United Nations headquarters in New york,Thabo Mbeki denied making such a statement. My headache is that most times, these media marketeers are allowed to go scot-free.
I hope this messy situation can be remedied. laws have to be strengthened to catch up with those who don't report objectively. The Reporters Without Borders should not only defend their members but help to protect the ordinary people in society from the unwarranted intrusion of the press into their affairs.
