Remember Summer

Book Summary by: obelix

Original Author: Elizabeth Lowell

There is no idea, which has intrigued, surprised, controlled, eluded men like the four-letter word. LOVE. To the

rich to the poor alike, it has to be sought albeit differently, philosophers, teachers, scholars and all great men have spoken about it. In the family, in the work place, it has been taught, but to this date the way it operates is like the wind, you can see it shake the trees to help in guess only it’s direction.

As the chapter unfolds and every event becomes more and more fascinating ,Elizabeth Lowell

Keeps us glued to the passion of the two characters, Rainer Chandler Smith, born of a high profile intelligent military officer in the Pentagon. Him, a special agent who is accustomed to taking orders under Chandler Smiths command. Specially trained to asking questions and always keeping asecret, and not giving in to questions, Cord Elliot trained perfectly to evade death and bullet, always accustomed to the rush of adrenaline and violence. They were two very unlike persons.

Hard as it may sound the author takes us throughout the paces of love that has been allowed to operate.

In their lives, Rein grew up not believing in her- self ,in her ability, with low self-esteem ,she described herself as average. With a father who couldnt be around as she turned into a woman, who couldnt remember her birthday; she choose away that was totally different to the rest of the family. While others sought academic credentials and fame, she sought sport and not any other, she chose horse- racing and she was determined to succeeded.

In this particular moment she meets Cord in a rather twist of coincidence. She was checking the terrain she was supposed to take during the Olympic games she was participating in, he was concerned about, in the same place about terrorism attacks threatened to be initiated at the summer Olympics, to check avenues for ambush and also for bomb and sniper attacks, to make sure the games go ahead without a hitch. While thinking of her as a terrorist he attacks her only to meet a humble and harmless chlid of his boss in the shape of a 27 years old beautiful lady, so much different from the picture he was given. Their meeting was moment of change both for Raines and Cord. She came for the first time to believe in herself and her beauty, this greatly improved her self esteem and confidence. As fate would have it, falling in love with Cord was loving a man who bitterly reminded her of her absentee father, a love which was prone to  broken promises, unexplained absence due  to the nature of his job  and always and having to live with the fact that she couldn’t really know the truth about who he  really was.

But this was not to be, for the moment Cord meets Raine ,he knew that he had to change his life, and his job. As Raine gets her  gold at the Olympics, he is shot  and left for the dead. He had previously resigned and as they put his partner in the mortuary with his name tag on it, he knew at last he would be free, free to be himself and also free to live his life as he wanted ,how he wanted it to be, to love the one who loved him, Raine.

The separation between them after she receives her medal and him recuperating in a high profile hospital, she knew  she had lost him but it was not to be, for Cord would never let his love go away.

With the money they have acquired ,they decide to purchase a ranch and a horses to start training horse riders. At least  the love of her life had come and she was going to stay with joy the rest of her life in the arms of Cord with no fear attached.

Indeed this is a summer to remember, and worth of any risk attached. Read it to be thrilled, read to be excited, know it to be happy. That’s love.
