Idaho Springs, Colorado: Rich Gold Mining and Recreation Adventure Opportunities

Springs Colorado offers allot of recreation opportunities only 30 minutes west from Denver, CO and located in Clear Creek County. They have a number of white water rafting tours down the either Arkansas or Clear Creek Rivers. The foundation of Idaho Springs was prompt by Gold Rush of 1859. Just along the Clear Creek River there are two famous mines. These mines include the Phoenix and Argo Gold mines. If you want to you can pan for gold and see you have any luck finding any gold. Beaujo’s Pizza is famous for it creates your own pizza and its gluten free menu. There are various quaint stores in downtown Idaho Springs antique and chocolate store.


There is a Mount Evans Scenic and Historic Byway is only 40-minute drive from Idaho Springs and has an road over 14,265 ft peak. While traveling up the peak you can see various wildlife, which includes mountain goats and big horned sheep.


Idaho Springs has a unique mix of history and adventurous recreation opportunities. This area seems to be overlooked because it does not have a resort or commercial atmospheres like towns of Vail, Aspen or Winter Park. Instead it makes the visitor feel they where back in the years with Victorian Homes and narrow roads leading to either gold mines or river rafting tours or just a hike in the Roosevelt National Forest. The city has different rustic homes and historical museums.


There is a famous mineral spa in Idaho Springs called Indian Hot Springs resort and spa center. This is a unique health spa with a mineral hot steam bath. Some of famous visitors include Frank and Jesse James and the Vanderbilt’s.
