Abode of Gods.
The trip to Kailash Mansarovar is scheduled to commence on
1st June 2006. This is an annual event for which pilgrims
and nature lovers wait eagerly. KMVN (Kumaon Mandal Vikas
Nigam) organizes the journey to Mansarovar in association
with the local administration. They have started making
arrangements for the expedition that would last for four
months. Starting from Delhi the first group would reach
Uttaranchal from where the journey to the paradise would
According to Mr. Amit Negi, the District Magistrate of
Pithorgarh sixteen groups each comprising of 60 pilgrims
each would take part in the journey. Ranikhet, the famous
hill station of Uttaranchal would be the place where the
first camp would be located. After a night’s halt at that
place the participants would move on to Dharchula. The rest
of the expedition would be undertaken on foot.
The trekking to Gunji would take five days, at the end of
which ITBP (Indo Tibetan Border Police) would conduct
medical examination of the participants before allowing
them to cross over to Chinese territory where the
Mansarovar, the abode of the Gods on Earth is situated.
