SPCA CLOSING DOWN....NOT!!!!! (South Africa)
This Hoax email has been going on too long, 2 years to
be exact. Its a big lie. Please do not believe or pass on this mail any longer!!! Please also send this link to your mates in South Africa as it is a mail that fills up our boxes over and over again. The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals hastened to quell rumours that it was shutting its doors - either locally or nationally. According to Allan Perrins, acting senior manager for the Cape of Good Hope SPCA, the organisation had been swamped with calls from worried people after a hoax e-mail was sent out, saying the SPCA was having to close down. The hoax e-mail was headed "The SPCA is closing down" in the subject field. In the e-mail it said that, despite promises, the SPCA was not getting money from the national Lotto organisation. The e-mail appeals to people to sign a petition to be sent to a specific e-mail address and also to pass the petition on to others. According to the national SPCA, they and other animal welfare organisations have received Lotto contributions in the past few years. It is believed the motive behind the e-mail is to gather addresses to form a database for spam mail.
The HOAX Mail that sent out:
"Do not cry if the Sun sets at the end of the day, because the tears will not let you enjoy the beauty of the Stars". The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in South Africa is closing down. THE SPCA IS IN DESPERATE NEED OF FUNDS WHILE SA SPORTS GET ONE THIRD OF THE LOTTO EARNINGS! The SPCA is facing the reality of closing down several of their branches, which would be a catastrophe for animal rescue because they solely rely on private funding. As you can imagine, this will have a devastating effect, not to mention the thousands of unwanted, starving and desperate animals that are rescued each day due to negligence or ignorance. You may not be aware that animal welfare organizations have been excluded from the LOTTO payouts. Upon requesting aid they were told that "animal welfare is not a charity". To add insult to injury, sport clubs who already have access to state funding, membership fees, gate fees and corporate sponsorships have been allocated a third of the LOTTO proceeds. Chanel Rowan would like to send a petition to the department of Trade and Industry (who allocate the funds) to protest this and would appreciate it if you would add your name to the list below and circulate it to as many people as possible.

NB: For any spam mail to be published here in this site, do not hesitate to mail this to tashtancc@webmail.co.za with your proof. Its quite evil to think that people use children, animals and adults to abuse our email boxes and create this wasted time.
