Girls are killed even before their birth! (In India there are 1000 boys to 927 girls!) If she survives, she may not get a
fair share of the family’s property or budget for
education. As she grows it is fairly certain that she would be molested by a trusted relative, teacher or stranger. She may not complete her education; she will have to stop to look after the family- husband and children. She might otherwise be married off for money, gifted to a temple or sold to work in the fields.
Dowry deaths are awaiting her everywhere.. Hubby bashing and torture are common too. Thanks to the ultrasound technology a woman has abortions forced on her until she conceives a male child. Only the truly independent ones will be able to keep her female fetus intact.
At the workplace she will have to tolerate unequal pay, harassment and eve-teasing all along. It is erroneous to say that in India women are slave-like: she will willingly sign up for the drudgery of household work. If she earns the entire money will come home or goes full for saving. She has no freedom to touch it!
She maintains her silence, and raises a family, endures the ordeals of the husband and in-laws all along and somehow keeps her sanity. This should change and a revolution is needed immediately. .
