There was a revival of the Hindu power during this period and the Moslems in India suffered a serious setback..
But Iltumish won over the Katehar Rajputs who had so far refused to submit to Islamic imperialism. The sultan led an expedition across the Ganges in 1254 AD.and after leaving Delhi, he arrived in the midst of the territory of Katihar and put to death every male and bound the women.
