WHAT IS THE EPICA?
Epic is a word that etymologically comes from the Greek epos meaning
narrative discourse.
In its own right, is the epic story in verse of historical events or legends, exaggerated by the image of the poet. Here the poet tells what happened outside their spirit. No episodes warriors, deeds of heroes, travel. For this reason, the objective is essentially epic literature.
The epic story in its structure consists essentially of an action in which the characters, although they often add the element delinquent narrative descriptions.
In the epic poems there is a central character or protagonist. This used to be an old hero who, over time, you are schematized and thus became a symbol of heroic virtues and superhuman.
Opposite him are almost always antagonistic. Generally was the main enemy of the central hero. Besides these two main characters emerged other figures representing various secondary qualities: shrewdness, wisdom, strength, etc.
