RESPECT THE DEAD TV NEWS CHANNELS!
TV news channels are the most powerful modern age tools that diesseminate information and news in no time. They are truly doing a great service and made the entire world a global village. But the fierce competition among the TV news channels that work on24/7 concept are always on the run for news. Sensationalisation of news became the order of the day.
The Indian TV news Channels including the regional language news channels vye with each other to show it first when ever there is death and destruction from terrorist attacks, accidents etc. Their latest Digital cameras capture all the gory details of dead. Severed limbs of the dead in bomb blasts, disfigured faces, blood spilled over the roads etc are captured with such a vivid detail that one feels depressed seeing the ghastly sight. Not only that they show the same feed again and again.
TV news channels must realise that sensationalisation has its limits. Human dignity of the dead deserves utmost respect. They must impose a self censorship code by which they can treat death and destruction with a human face. they can pan the site and give the details without covering from close ups the dead , their severed limbs and blood. We should sypthathise with the family members, relatives and friends of the dead and should not hurt them by showing these obnoxious shots again and again.
Like wise, the Indian TV news channels try to give live coverage whenever possible during the riots and such other unsocial violent incidents. This type of live coverage of suspected communal riots, etc instead of uniting people divide them on the basis of their caste, religion etc.
Hence Indian TV channels must ponder over for a while and agree to respect the dead and also help their best in dowsing unfortunate and occassional communal riots etc.
