HOW OLD IS
UNIVERSE?
Vedas and ancient Hindu texts belong not to what we narrowly call Hindus. They belong to the entire
world. The secrets of the past and present are waiting to be rediscovered from these texts. Are we ready at least now?
COSMOLGISTS estimate the age of the
UNIVERSE to be 10 to 20 billion years. But do you know that
thousands of years back, the ancient Hindu texts came out not only with the age of the universe but also the life span of Universe? The ancient Hindu texts gave a time scale for the earth and the universe thousands of years back. The Rig Veda and the Puranic texts asserts that the universe endures for 432 billion years, during which period the Universe is created, evolved and destroyed and surprisingly it is cyclic in nature which means that at the end of 432 billion years again a new cycle of creation/evolution and destruction takes place. It is believed that 432 billion years represent a one BRAHMA day. Brahma has a life span of 100 Brahma years, which is equivalent to 300+ trillion years. Carl Sagan the famous cosmologist and Pulitzer Prize winner says that the while the Hindu cosmological scale estimated the present age of universe as 8.4 billion years, the latest science estimates it to be between 10 to 20 billion years.
The unfortunate thing is people with the knowledge to interpret the VEDAS and the Ancient Hindu texts are a few and it has resulted in rediscovering what has been already discovered thousands of years back.
