Power of Positive thinking – Chapter 1
What is Positive thinking?
Norman Vincent Peale in his wonderful
book on positive thinking lists the good effects of positive
thinking. To think positive is to have a strong conviction that
positive things are going to happen, that things are
perceived more
positively. There are three types of events in this world : Positive,
Neutral and Negative. These events are perceived by the person. A
negative event may lead to positive outcome in long term. A positive
event may lead to further positive events.
Life events and experiences
A person may want to have
a positive experience in his life. He may want to think positively of
the wealth he has, skills he possess and the job he does. Every
person by his previous experiences sets a expectations on his future,
every moment he determines the positiveness of that moment. The
persons mood is determined by that persons perception. A person lives
his world in his mind. An event which may seem negative due to past
experiences may be looked as positive by changing the focus of
evaluating events.
A person may be fired of
to become a freelance writer. A person may lose his capital in share
market to make future gains in other strategies like mutual funds. A
person may lose life to enter spiritual world. Every event by looking
positively can be made more profitable.
Brain
Conditioning A human brain is
conditioned by the perceived positiveness of the life experience.
This conditioning can be altered consciously and subconsciously
through feeding positive mental attitude. Reading Positive books,
Listening motivating tapes, Seeing exciting success stories will lead
to feeling positive about daily events. When a person misses a bus
and takes auto he may enter into a different part of city which can
show him a lead to his career or life. A person needs to overcome his
prior conditioning to see events in life in a positive focus.
Reduce Feel bad time
A poor examination or a
failure in sales are apparently bad results for that day. People live
for more than one day, they work for their future. A poor examination
may prevent further poor examinations by providing an opportunity to
overcome the root cause of failure. Failure in sales may result in
development of better products which are better priced and attractive
marketing campaigns. There is a period of feeling bad after every
perceived bad event, it may be for few moments or few decades. By
thinking positive it is possible to reduce this feeling bad period.
