TETERRORISM-TACKLE THE ROOT
It appears that more attention is given to tackle the
TERRORISM, which is a great social
danger than to go to the root of
terrorism and tackle it effectively so that no more seeds of terrorism exist on this earth. Terror has become a tool in the hands of misguided fanatic religious elements, and disgruntled social elements with the system and the leadership. Many societies are facing terrorism because social causes and economic causes of the depraved in their societies were not handled effectively. Take for example the Naxalite menace in India and Nepal. It was born out of social frustration and is being used by the Naxalites as a tool to destroy peace in the society. They don’t believe in ballot box and place their faith in the Gun culture. These movements got corrupted and turned into extortion rackets and became huge money-spinners for those who are leading and participating in these movements. If the social and economic inequities are properly addressed by the societies and equal chances are given to all to prosper, such movements die a natural death. Instead the governments concerned spend billions of dollars in fighting these elements without going into the root causes and addressing them adequately. It is like applying balm to a person suffering from headache than taking steps to prevent headache.
Then come religious groups that are terrorizing the societies across the world. Especially the Muslim groups that caused the 9/11 in US and many attacks world wide, including in India. What are the grievances of the Muslim groups that have taken to terrorist path endangering world peace?
They are mainly
Belief in the Muslim world that their precious resources like oil are being plundered by other nations.
Lack of democratic institutions generally in the Muslim world, making some groups believe in age old concepts like Jihad.
The social inequities in the Muslim nations.
Indoctrination about the religion as a weapon to fight the world.
Today the entire world wants to live like a single family but unfortunately some muslim countires give primacy to religion. Religion alone cant feed millions. We may belong to any faith. Faith is some thing personal. It should not be an obstruction to progress and development. No faith can ever convert the entire world into one faith. People believe and practice different faiths. Religion is to guide people to the right path. All
religions teach that we should be compassionate even towards our enemies. All the religions teach that we should help each other and help others. All the religions teach that we should put YOU before I concept into practice. Though the paths of religions may be different, the goal is same. Making people live a just and truthful life.
So for curing the societies from terrorism
· There should be assembly of religions like assembly of nations, where the religious misgivings are removed. They should be held on global, national , city, town, village levels at frequent intervals. The religious leaders must do what they are supposed to do. They must preach love and tolerance, compassion. They must make united efforts to give a clear message that religion is some thing personal, it guides a person to lead a life that harms none and that the religions are but different paths for the same purpose. That is by living a purposeful life, you get the blessings of the ALMIGHY. They should popularize the fact that God is one and it makes no difference which religion they practice.
· Addressing social and economic inequities in the world there by creating equal opportunities for all the groups irrespective of which religion they belong.
· Spreading democracy as a system of governance where ever it is lacking.
· Addressing the misgivings and apprehensions of groups of people that are taking to terrorist path and giving them opportunities that veer them away from the course.
· Stop using religion as aweapon to achieve ones ends.
· Spreading the message of universal brother hood and one ness of God.
· Stop religions from competing with each other and making them complimentary in guiding the people to a just and right path.
· Spreading Global Village concept where all the peoples of nations live amicably and happily.
I hope that these measures will tackle the root cause of terrorism. It is not to say that we should be un prepared and allow the societies to suffer from terrorism. All the steps to prevent terrorists from acting on their evil designs should be taken. At the same time primacy need to be given to tackle the root causes and cure the world of terrorism. Temporary balm alone will make this headache appear again and again
