In some situations
compromise is simply necessity.
None of us likes to disagree but even less we like to compromise.
People abhor
compromise because for them it means to fail or, at least, to choose better of two evils. By such attitude they defy positive aspects of compromise that are just as auspicious as negative ones. That is why such situations, in which even the most uncompromising person has to obey, and compromise, not necessarily have to be disadvantageous for him/her. As usual, the truth lies in between and effects of compromise will vary from situation to situation.
First of all, compromises are part and parcel of every long-run relationship. Either due to differences of characters, either due to differences in perceiving the world people tend to disagree. Still if they truly love each other there is no situation in which they are unable to find solution which satisfies both of them. It does not matter if it is deciding on buying a new apartment or choosing a place for holiday destination, people who really want to be together will find ways to compromise. Otherwise if a trifle can make them differ it just proves that they simply were not a well matched couple. In that sense compromise, or rather ability to achieve compromise, is a marker allowing discovering whether a couple is well-matched or not by applying simple test of compromise one can save oneself from an unhappy relationship or, in consequence, from an unhappy marriage in the future.
Another type of situation in which compromise is a necessity is all kinds of political issues. Starting from agricultural through industrial and ending on matters considering international relationship,
politicians have to compromise. To reach agreement is highly important due to the fact it has a serious bearing on the future of a whole country. Politicians have to forget about their own aspirations and keep in mind that their decisions will influence other peoples’ lives. Even parties that are the most opposing and hostile towards each other can find balanced and wise solutions just by means of compromise. This, in turn, is more prone to be beneficial for the country as a given subject will be given more thorough consideration and all aspects of it will be analyzed for the aim of reaching compromise.
All in all, compromise not always has to have a negative outcome. It can serve higher purposes such as establishing happy and loving relationship, guaranteeing political and economical welfare of a country. That is why people should always take into consideration all pros and cons before saying – No! -. It is because a trifle may occur to have a bearing on all their future life, so not to regret – one should always think twice not to miss the best in life especially if it is obtainable by means of compromise.
