What is a Yuga? Yuga is an epoch of human existance. According to Indian Mythology there are five Yugas namely Krutayuga,
Tretayuga, Dwaparayuga, Kaliyuga and Kalangayuga. All the puranas (sacred books) only gave the first four yugas. The last yuga will be a perfect yuga where you will not find any bad elements. All will be pure and go according to dharma (law). When there is good, an equal amount of bad will naturally be there as per natural law. When more bad prevails, the lord has to be born by the end of each yuga and destroy the excess and maintains equality.
As said by W.B Yeats in his 'Second Coming' "Turning and turning in the widening gyre; The falcon cannot hear the falconer" that is man moving away from the control of god, as there is no control of god, man even tends to move towards the evil. And that is the right time for the rebirth of god, in order to bring back humanity again into his control.
Right now we are in the Kaliyuga, it is in this age where people tend to be evil lovers as a result there will be less or no place for good. Then why god is delaying in punishing the evil. The reason for the delay is, there are wise people still on the world and their wise character is enough to save the earth from being damned. You may ask how do one know that there are still wise people on earth, let me tell you a story:
In a village there is a dull lazy fellow named Dasu. One night he
happened to sleep in an open area. On opening his eyes the next morning, the first thing he saw is the sky. Looking at the sky, he happened to get a doubt that how could the sky be in the air without any support. Suddenly he ran away from that place and hid himself under a roof. He was very much afraid that the sky would fall on him at any time and bring him to death. He decided to leave that place and protect himself from being dead. So Dasu began to run away from that place. On the way, he happened to meet a Saint. The saint saw Dasu gasping. He called Dasu and
asked him the reason for his fear. Then Dasu replied that the sky would fall on them, as it doesn't have any support to hang on. Now the saint pitied Dasu for his innocence and told him that there are many pillars to support the sky from falling down. Immediately, out of anxiety, Dasu asked the sage to show him the pillars, which support the sky. The sage gave him an assignment in order to get the answer to his question.
The sage asked Dasu to go and beg for food in front of every house, wait for few seconds, if the housewife did not respond within those few second then start calling her names (abuse). And that is the assignment given by the sage. At the first house, Dasu started begging and used abusive language when the housewife did not respond to him in time. On hearing the words spoken by Dasu, the people around him began to beat him and drew him away from that place. He constantly repeated doing this at each and every house, and faced the same consequences. But he didn't give up the work assigned by the sage. Finally he reached a house and did the same thing. After sometime, a woman came out with food and gave it to Dasu. She also asked him to excuse her for being late. Dasu was shocked; he thought that the same thing would happen again, but she didn’t even raise her voice with anger.
As the day comes to an end, he returned to the sage. The sage asked him for result. Dasu told the whole thing that had happened. Now he expressed another doubt that why didn't the last woman beat him as others did. The sage replied that this is answer for your first question. The people like that woman are considered as the pillars to the sky. Because there are still such kind of good people on earth, the sky would never fall from the top. And on hearing this, Dasu jumped into the air with joy; finally he got his doubt clarified and he can darely walk in the street withfear of the sky would fall on earth. He thanked the sage and took leave from him.
Finally I would like to conmy essay by saying, let us pray to god to end this ugly Kaliyuga and make a way to Kalanga yuga the yuga of dharma. Let us assume that if not we or our children, let our grand children’s grand children taste the sweetness of pure love and enjoy the wise fruits of the world.
