Quote of the Day-August 27th, 2006

Book Summary by: Teal Gil

Original Author: The Dispicable Myself
Hello again and welcome back to the Quote of the Day Series. Today's quote is funny and somewhat inspirational, and, luckily
for all of us, there's really only one way you can take it. And now, right when you're starting to get curious, I present you with today's quote:
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.
-Jane Caminos
I don't think there's a one of us who hasn't been concerned about our weight at one time or another. The fact is, however, that up to a certain point at least your weight is not a terribly important attribute. I know in so many cultures in the world being even slightly overweight is considered almost a sin, but the truth is, regardless of what mainstream society says, that as long as you're healthy it doesn't particularly matter what you look like or how much you weigh.
Of course, this quote doesn't just deal with weight; weight is merely the example used to present the deeper point. the deeper point here being the unfortunate fact that so much of modern society has become superficial and shallow. I'm sure most of you out there have turned on the television recently to find yet another actor or model that looks very skinny and not exactly genuine. Yet so many members of modern culture believe that this sort of purely physical lifestyle leads to happiness. Which brings me to this next point, which is also the point of the quote: Life is 90% mental. One cannot aceive happiness in one's life without first forgetting about one's physical falacies and focusing on the pleasures of human existence. Even with modern society so focused on obligations, appearances, and physical beauty, there is still nothing greater that any one person can acheive than simple and genuine happiness. And that, my friends, is the simple yet important message of this quote: Let your physical falacies go, and concentrate on the joy and pleasure to be found in life. If you do that, you are sure to live longer, happier, and healthier.
This has been another quote of the day and I hoped you all enjoyed it. See you tomorrow!
