Quote of the Day-August 30th, 2006

Book Summary by: Teal Gil

Original Author: The Dispicable Myself
Welcome back to the quote of the day series. The quote for today is sort of philosophical, but then again all the quotes
of the day are philosophical in their own right. So, to satisfy your curiosity, the quote of the day:
Take the utmost trouble to find the right thing to say, and then say it with the utmost levity.
- George Bernard Shaw
This quote warns people about one of the most common errors that everyone makes once in a while-talking too much, especially about things that you don't know a thing about. We've all done it occasionally. We talk about things as if we're experts on whatever subject we're discussing while we (and usually most of the people around us) know that we have absolutely no idea what we're talking about. This is why this quote is one that can be used not only today, but just about every day of one's life. This quote tells us that, while sounding like we know what we're talking about may temporarily make us sound more intellectual or secure about ourselves, the truly wise will think over what they say carefully, swishing the thought about in their heads as if it was a fine wine, until they have an answer that is both wise and can be at least partially proven.
Despite what some may believe, just about every question out there requires a significant amount of thought before any kind of fiesable answer is applied. Therefore, we must be careful in our daily lives and remind ourselves to think about questions asked before we answer them. Any answer that's worth saying requires thought before it is said; an answer that is not thought through with the proper care will only result in arguement and embarassment. While the answer you may give to any particular question may not agree with another previously given answer, or an answer yet to be given, if you have thought it through carefully enough then it's almost certain that whatever answer you give will at least be rational, even if some do not agree with your opinion.
Well, that's another quote of the day already over (tear) and I hope you've learned some valuable lessons from this one. This quote is one of those you can use every day of your life and it will still be applicable. farewell, and see you tomorrow.
