Well hi there everyone, and welcome back to the quote of the day series. Today's quote was said by, in my opinion, one of
the greatest human beings ever to walk the face of the earth. And now, without any further delay during which time I know all of you are biting your anils in anticipation, today's quote:
The weak can never forgive.
Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.
- Mahatma Ghandi
This is one of the truest and wisest quotes ever siad anywhere. This quote, for those who are willing to listen, can and will change your life and make it so much more positive it will amaze you and possibly bring you unexpected riches.
This particular quote is addressed to the vindictive among us. Although it might be a conversation starter in some cases, being vindictive is not a quality one wants to be remembered for. Forgiveness makes you and those around you feel wonderful about themselves, while making the one you forgive feel slightly differently. In fact, there is another quote by Oscar Wilde-it goes something like this:
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.
Of course, making your enemies feel worse about themselves can never be allowed to be the primary motive of forgiveness. Forgiveness, rather, is something that, while many people have tried, cannot even be described in a quote. Forgiveness isn't even completely explained in the bible, and it certainly can't be explained away in one little abstract. However, I can tell you this:
To forgive is not an inherent human qualiry; it is possessed only by those who are slightly more enlightened than the average person. Even though all beings on earth are and always will be created equal, those who know how to forgive will always have something different about them then those who don't. They'll always be a little more pleasant than most, and they'll alwaya have something positive to say. In short, to forgive once does more in an instant than all the acts of revenge ever performed in the entire world could ever do. No harm can ever come from forgiveness, and no one ever harmed themselves because they have been forgiven. So I urge all of you out there, if you are
currently holding a grudge, for your own health, as well as for the health of others, forgive your opponent and you will become long lasting friends. If you still don't believe me, I'm currently dating a woman who was my political opponent for several years. So as you can see, forgiveness can bring all sorts of benefits into your life.
Well, that's the quote for today. Go out and forgive somebody and I hope to see you tomorrow.
