Quote of the Day-September 6th, 2006

Book Summary by: Teal Gil

Original Author: The Dispicable Myself
Welcome back to the quote of the day series, and today we investigate a real interesting quote which I hope will enchance
your interactions with those around you. And now I bring you the quote, lovingly wrapped as always:
Be a fountain, not a drain.
- Rex Hudler
This quote really has a lot of meaning to it. First of all, in order to better understand this quote, let's compare a fountain to a drain. Trivial, I know, but neccessary.
A fountain, as we all know is a device that sprays water everywhere in all sorts of directions and is usually considered a decorative item. It is frequently found in nice places and people always enjoy the company of a fountain. A drain, on the other hand, collects water from all directions and generally isn't noticed or seen sound very much. It is usually understated, and while it might be considered neccesary, people don't usually decorate town squares with drains.
Now that that's out of the way, we can clearly see that a fountain and a drain have noting in common, except that they both have to do with water. People can be likie fountains and drains, too. A person who could be considered a fountain would most likely spread their thoughts and opinions anywhere and everywhere, but would be a pleasure to talk to ar see around and would always be there if someone needed a little relaxation or consolment. A drain, on the other hand, is one of those people who hordes things for oneself and shares little, opinions or otherwise, with others. A drain is usually found in places generally considered private, and so would be a drain-like person. I think we can all quite clearly see why it's better to be a fountain than a drain.
Be a fountain, and others will be a fountain towards you. be a drain, and others will simply use you for waste disposal. Well, as far as this quote goes, it's done. I hope to see you for tomorrow's quote!
