Hi there and welcome to the quote of the day series. I don't know what happened to September 7th; I think I might have labeled
it September 6th. Anyhow, today's quote is one of those old pearls of wisdom that is still relevant in modern times. And now, my friends, the quote:
If the wind will not serve, take to the oars.
- Latin Proverb
This quote is especially important for those of you who tend to get frequently discouraged. It's an excellent saying of hope and resourcefulness for those times when frustration sets in.Those of you who have ever tried to keep doing something over and over again and have been greeted with nothing but failure will know what I'm talking about. This quote is trying to say that if you've been continuously attempting to solve the same problem and haven't solved it yet, then maybe you ought to try a
different way. Problems are often more complex (or sometimes more simple) than we previously anticipate and a solution that may have seemed viable before could be completely invalidated by new and present information. If this is the case, than it would make perfect sense to try the problem a different way. After all, what good is it to keep hammering your head against the door if it won't open? You might want to try the knob. Or you might want to make a battering ram at least so you don't give yourself a concussion. The same thing goes with normal, everyday problems. If you try to solve the problem the same way every day and you continue to get negative and displeasurable realuts, then you may wish to consider a different method of solving said problem or, trust me, you'll get a massive headache from trying to figure it out. So, in essence, this quote says that the only way you'll ever solve a tough problem is to try it different ways until something works. And then you might want to
remember that something, just in case. Remember-wisdom can be found in the most unexpected places.
Well, I hope this quote, as the others before, has helped to make your day a little brighter. I'll see you tomorrow.
