That was a winter morning. An old
woman was lying on the footpath. She was not in a position to move to a safer place, in
order to save her life from killing cool breeze. She was lying there unconscious; her feet were eaten away by rats. People were rushing to their regular duties. They did not even care to look at the old
woman and help her. Then came a Lady in white saree, with blue border, and a cross on her neck. She took the old woman to the nearby hospital. Even the doctor did not consider the poor old woman as a living being and justified that she was almost dead. The lady pleaded the doctor to do something to save her, but he refused to do so and sent them out. The lady decided to do something in order to save the old woman and so she took her into a tent. There she did everything that she can do in order to save her life. After sometime, the old woman opened her eyes and said “thank you.” On hearing the words, the lady thought to herself “if I were in her position, I would have
asked for food or I would have asked to save my life, but she thanked me. This shows her wise attitude.”
The “lady” is none other than ‘Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu’ who is famously known as “Mother Teresa.” I would like to tell you few words, which Mother Teresa spoke: “The other day I dreamed that I was at the gates of heaven.... And St. Peter said, 'Go back to Earth, there are no slums up here.” She devoted her entire life to the succor of the sick and the outcast, earthly sufferers were nothing less than Christ in "distressing disguise." Unfortunately, we lost her. In my opinion no one had such qualities imbibed in him or her in the past, and I am sure no one can compensate “The Mother” in future.
