one or other TV serial at least once in a day. We know that it is not that much good and entertaining, but the most amazing thing that we need to accept is 90% of people are still watching them.There was a time when
television was a solution for people to avoid going to theatre to catch some entertainment at home. All the family members can sit together and watch TV serials, that are related to our day to day lives, presents their happiness and sorrows of simple middle class
families and also taught them to deal with the little problems of life and present before them a real picture of Indian families. At least viewers can relate themselves to those things.Now a day it is destroying Indian sentiments. These kinds of serials have destroyed image of Indian family and woman. Most of the serials deal with family relationship and women struggle. This is age of extra marital relationship, illegitimate children, women empowerment and creating nuisances in the family if some thing is not done according to your own wish.Once it shows the person to be idealistic but after some time we find that this one is not good he is against all that is shown him to be. What they are trying to tell us; we should not believe a person with good qualities or the person who thinks about the welfare of everyone always has to suffer. It means that we should not follow good and beneficial things in our life rather it is good to choose the negative path because we can have money, power, reputation and all graceful things only through that.So these serials has put question mark on our family and social system .The values and faith that used to be the symbol of Indian society, decaying slowly. Does everyone in the family have an extra marital affair? Does anybody actually return from the clutches of death to life? Do we find people having memory loss everywhere in our locality?Television is a medium through which we can have a broader look to our society. It should represent every sphere of Indian society. However, do they really do the same? No, they are presenting western culture in Indian attire. They are cheating Indian families by telling them that it is our India today.Moreover, if they are not solving our purpose, what is the reality and significance of these serials – Entertainment-but do they really ENTERTAIN?
