Painting Exhibition at Lalit Kala Academy, Lucknow (INDIA)

Book Summary by: puja

Original Author: Puja Garg
Art is a subjective form of creative expression, of beauty, in visual forms. From times immemorial, artists have captured
beauty in portraits and displayed them in exhibitions. India has many world-renowned painters, like Mr. M.F. Hussain. As a creative student I visited the one such painting exhibition being held at Lalit Kala Academy in Lucknow (India) from 12th – 18th October. It exhibits the talents of Mr. Nawal Kishore as a painter. The exhibition is called “One Man Show of Paintings (Nayika Series). The Amity Arts Foundation supports the exhibition, which is a part of the Department of Fine Arts of the College. The Principal Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Luv Verma, inaugurated the exhibition and the Guest of Honor was Ms. Bhawana Singh. Mr. Nawal Kishore is a famous painter who was born in 1977. He has done his B.F.A. and M.F.A. degrees and has been a part of some illustrious painting shows and exhibitions in Northern India. Currently, he works as a teacher at the Department of Fine Arts, Amity College, Lucknow. In his paintings titled NAYIKA, he has portrayed a woman as the protagonist of his art. The pictures are beautifully and colorfully painted. One of the portraits is termed as ‘Swayamwara’. This word dates back to ancient times when the kings ruled India. When their daughters were to get married, they invited bachelors from various kingdoms for the ceremony. The man whom the daughter liked and admired became her husband, from the group. In this portrait, the painter has shown the emotions of a girl, about to get married. She can be seeing surrounded by her friends. Another portrait artistically depicts the day embossing itself on the night. A woman is seen looking in the mirror in the daylight with the calmness of night in the background. Other pictures show women in different postures and thoughts, which are eye-catching. A few paintings were in black and white. The styles of paintings he has used are oil painting, watercolors, water and poster, and pen and ink. He has done a good job when it comes to using bright and appealing colors. The paintings are open for sale, which range from Rs. 2000 to Rs. 66000.
