Atlantis Checklist

Book Summary by: aysmiles

Original Author: Professor Arysios Santos
For a long time now, the location of the Mythical Atlantis, described by Plato has been put in the Atlantic Ocean. However,
recent evidences have not only made such thinking absurd but also provided a new clue as to the true location. Plato, the ancient Greek Philosopher had written in his dialogues; Timaeus and Critias about an ancient civilization, around 11thousand years ago, that had reached an advanced stage of human development and had colonized most part of the world, except ancient Greece. He had mentioned that Atlantis was located in the Atlantic Ocean. However, recent considerations have shown that Atlantis cannot be in the ocean we refer today as Atlantic ocean. Rather, it is in the Indian Ocean. Professor Arysios Santos has carried out some research into this aspect. Some of the concrete evidences that have contradicted former suggestions such as pole shift and supported the claims of Santos are as follows :
1. First we must remember that the ancient people referred to the whole water body surrounding the land mass as Atlantic ocean. Erastothenes divided the Atlantic Ocean into two; the Occidental, which is the Modern day Atlantic Ocean, and the Oriental, which is actually the Indian Ocean.
2. The Atlantic Ocean, which is the western ocean, is called so because it is the Ocean of the Atlantians. Later researchers made the mistake of naming the western Ocean without knowing the true location of Atlantis.
3. The Atlantic Ocean Seabed has been combed and searched with sophisticated methods and still, there is no evidence of any sunken continent.
4. Plato said Atlantis was a naval power and that the continent was big. This has disqualified any location in the Mediterranean.
5. We must remember that in the Bible, God created the garden of Eden in the east, so it is towards this side we must look if we are looking for an ancient paradise.
6. The geometry of the capital city as described by Plato is sacred. None of the formally acclaimed site fits this description which Santos called the Celtic cross. However, the Celtic cross is widely attested to in the far East (Angkor wat,Borobudor).
7. Cataclysm: Plato said Atlantis was destroyed by fire and water. It has been discovered now that ice age endings are often accompanied by cataclysm. There is a legend about the pillar of the sky, which supported the City. When this pillar broke, the sky fell down on the city and destroyed it.
It is pointless looking for Atlantis in a region where there is no volcanic activity. From the above evidences and other recent findings, I believe it is no more wise to say “Since it is Atlantis, it has to be in the Atlantic Ocean.”
