We are very sensitive to our expectations and if these are not met with-We are restless, tend to react sharply. Our behaviour changes. And we revolve around meeting expectations, making expectations. And the life goes on.The one who expect, are senior or superiors, children, spouse, subordinates, society, colleagues, friends, peers and all. And similarly, expected out of them towards their respective associates, counterparts, publics. If parents do not meet children’s expectations, their children get upset, frustrated. Similarly parents expect their children to score, study, achieve, behave and much more .If response does not come forth, parents are disappointed and express anger.Similarly friends, husband wife. Peers, boss subordinate, employer employee, manager subordinates, relatives, brother sister, brother –brother, sister –sister, in laws, and host of relations, and endless relationships among human being expect from each other. We as public expect from administration, Governments, civic bodies to perform and if they fail to perform, we penalize, complaint, change them or protests for change.Similarly divorce between husband and wife is the result of hopes lost, expectations belied.
The relationship gets terminated. How wonderful is this psychological phenomenon . It tends to bring pleasure, pain, cause break, discontinuity and much more fights, struggles.Another dimension of this psychological variable is that- it increases every time like any other urge, more it is fulfilled. Again wonderfully –there is no saturation point. These are endless. The soul leaves the body, expectations do not.Do we run away from meeting expectations? Or stop making expectations because, these cause misery. Both the statements are untrue. So what do we do? We expect and deliver to expectations. It is the individual’s perception to be contended with- what is available or feel miserable. So the problem lies with the perception or the one who perceives.Being contended is a source of lethargy or a state of mind is statement of fact as is true for sleep and peace of mind. Please do not read much into this. Let us explore further?
