The study of disability finds its place in the curriculum in almost every sphere whether while studying the social status
of epileptics in non-Western cultues, the history of public policy related to mental illness, models of language acquisition, the ramifications of developmental delays for theories of social justice or in the novels of Toni Morrison.Disability if understood as central to the humanities, it will as well definitely be understood as centre to "humanity" also in theory, practice, sickness, health and cultual studies as in public policy.There are variety of
disabilities found in humanity (viz. language & communication impairment, hearing impairment, mobility impairment, visual impairment from low vision to blindness, learning disability, writing disability and so on.....)about which useful thoughts have been given and researches made to find out ways and means of improving the education standards amongst such disabled persons boosting up their self-condidence. In order to get acquinted with all such topics related to the disabled persons, a proper
educational curiculum/syllabus/course was thought of and efforts are afoot to get introduced such courses of Education in Disability globally.The Disabilities Studies & Services Center(DSSC) founded in 1994 - a department of the Academy for Educational Develpment(AED) which in turn is an independent and non-profit service organization in the United States is a fore-runner in this field of imparting education in Disability Studies. DSSC is committed to addressing human development needs not only in the United States but also throughout the globe. It conducts programs that aim for the improvement of the lives of infants, toddlers, children, youth and adults with disabilities and also their families.Disabiltiy Studies is a fast-emerging inter disciplinary field which examines issues related to the dynamic interplays between disability and various aspects of culture and society. The Study of Disability unites critical inquiry and political advocacy by utilizing scholarly approaches from the humanities,post-humanitic social sciences, and the arts. When this is thrust upon educational issues, it promotes the importance of infusing analysis and interpretations of disability throughout all forms of educational research, teacher education and graduate studies in education. The very purpose of Education in Disabilty Studies is to provide an organizational source to networking Disabilty Studies researchers in education and also to increase the viability and influence of Disability Studies amongst all educational researchers.Even in India, the need for education in Disability Studies has been stressed of late, in promoting the subject as an academic discipline.
