CORRUPTION Corruption is a term which, in our country, India is something of which everyone is aware of. It is no new thing to hide of acknowledge about. It has become highly acceptable by society and a means of achieving what cannot be done by legal means. Today, we hear many lectures an growing corruption, all having the same epigram “stop corruption”. But we have never seen corruption degrading its way in society, but it is becoming more integrated. Many high officials and politicians accept bribes openly, to get the required work done quickly and illegally. This is the order of day. The money they receive as bribe is invested in properties which are obviously disproportionate to their legal means of income. The development has had a serious impact on each and every aspect of life. People want to rise to the highest positions and almost all the professions are infested with criminal means to acquire money. Today, fake and deplicacy business is seen everywhere. Everyday we hear about big and small factories making duplicate items and the same is sold at the connivance of the authority. The police connives with the criminals and there is a well organised parallel government ruling the roost. They take share in every big bargain or understanding; force the powerful people and corrupt officials pay them handsomely. With this, it sums to end nowhere. Our moral values seem to be trampled under the feet. However, there are a few who with their high moral standards try to stay away from this menace. Let’s hope that, few though it seems, will rid this society of this menace forever.Ritam Saharia Student of class 8,Delhi public school,Guwahati,India
