Our Government is like a Frog

Did you ever fish in the troubled waters? Even if you tried you would have never succeeded. But this was exactly what our Tourism Development Corporation of India did during the course of their much hyped promotional campaign targeting the British Public. To get an added impact to their ad what else more serving than the infamous Shilpa Shetty episode to rope in to their advantage, this company displayed full page ad in leading newspapers in England as if they were targeting the racist minded people in Britain. The advertisement asks the British public to visit India to get a glimpse of our greatest civilization of our culture and heritage. Whoever the brain behind this advertisement, they must be living in a make believe world. They were not only trying to fish in troubled waters with this advertisement but also trying to teach the fish how to swim. The advertisers were not aware that the British were ruling us over centuries and they were aware of our culture, oldest civilization and heritage more than we knew. Most of the excavations of our oldest civilization and cultures done by the British and during their era than anything more worthwhile we did during our own rule. We just follow them for everything and even our democracy is a dupe of their own. Even our constitution was not very different to British, it is a ditto copy. Now what this TDC is going to show them? Are they going to show them a racial free society of India? In India all of us face racism in one way or the other, for example when we move from one state to another we face these kinds of racism or parochialism at the hands of our own citizen of our host states. This spirit is hidden in all and brewed right from our birth. This parochialism was born by the hypotheses of Son of Soil theory and it’s applicable even in job quota. Do you think is this not racism? Just look at our reservation system, our citizens are segregated in different categories.
Leaving whatever arguments you have in your mind to support reservation, I think this is a blatant segregation of our citizens. I think segregation of citizens on the basis of caste, creed or religion of birth equals to racism although we have several arguments to avoid getting a racist label on our reservation system. So if the TDC ad was targeting the racist people in
Britain
to visit our country, they were sadly mistaken and it was like a devil’s sermons.
All these topics of discussions started right from the episode of Shilpa Shetty and those who empathized with her Mother India tears during the show and her charges of racism against her house mates. Now she had changed her color like politician and said “the verbal jibes of their house mates were not filled with poison of racism”. We are relieved. But I am not sure whether she was under pressure to go back from her earlier charges or she was trying to black mail the channel for money. As we know a chameleon change its color for prey; likewise I wonder she also changed her tone of racism charges against her house mates for some big money. Where our government stands now? Our government was proved to be efficient once again in dealing with silly matters like this as they have no time to attend to the gnawing problems of their citizens. You spit thousand times a frog, it makes no different to the frog. Our government is like a frog. Don’t expect anything good from them.
