I have written a collection of about 30-31 poems and want to get my manuscript published into a book. Everywhere I turn, or even try to look, turns up that there is a fine expensive amount of money that the company that wants to work with you wants to charge you and then you only get just a little percetnage of the royalities off of your original work.
I have even entered contests that promise prizes if you are selected the winner and that they will enter you into their contests with chances to win mega bucks all to your surprise and amazement that the only money that is transferred is from your pocket to their front door. Their are several people out here that have published books and are probably not reaping the potential earnings that they thought they could have by this time.
We all need to really sit down and consider all our options when we want to get our work published. the things that we as authors need to consider is: 1. Is this company/publisher legitimate or is he/she just taking me along for the ride?
2. Why are they, the publishing company, charging me extragavant rates, just to publish one book?
3. Do I really have the extra funds to invest in this publication process?
There are several publishing options, and it is difficult as an author and writer to decide which options are the best. Their are even options for doing the self-publishing deals but this involves financial obligations that one may not have as well.
So to all the authors out there, like myself, that are wishing to get published or even try to get published Good Luck in this ever challenging endeavor.
