We the students of NEHRU COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AND RESEARCH CENTRE here by want to inform you about the incidents happening presently in our college1 The
management is forcibly recovering an extra fees of Rupees 5000/- .This is in addition with the fees stipulated by KT Thomas commission (38750), and thus making a total of 43750.2 The college management is not keeping the AICTE
rule of maintaining permanent staffs. Still
teachers are posted on the basis of bonds for one or two years3 The college is affiliated to Calicut
University and the university has a rule regarding the
attendance percentage of the students on which a student must possess a minimumAttendance percentage of 75% but the college has its own rule which is strictly forwarding attendance minima of 80% the management is recovering fine of RS 100/- per day forEven genuine leaves, thus the management is considering education as a business.4 At the time of university examination the attendance shortage can be solved by giving bribe to the management through non teaching staffs (for 1% RS 100-250).No condo nation rule and attendance pattern is followed by the college.5 College is not giving importance to the quality of education they are only thinking of appointing teachers for the least wages.6 There are parents meetings every month (for each batches separately) but the management is not willing to form a PTA irrespective of the likeliness of the parents on each meeting the parents are strongly notifying the need of a PTA but the management is not listening to that because in absence of a PTA the parents will not raise there voice against the debauchedness of the management7 The management is strongly persuading the college students for buying notebooks, syllabus books from the college stores and another obligatory thing is that each student mustPossess the college diary for RS 100/-8 The college is not promoting sports, games and extra curricular activities and there is no proper ground in The College however a showground is setup somehow at the time of inspection processes you can make sure of this fact by arranging a sudden inspection.9 because of the reason that the teachers are not permanent they are the "tail” of management so the management is using the teachers as tools for harassing the students and thus through this teachers the management can influence in the internal marks of the students this problem is a great tension for us the students. The secretary and PRO of the college are scolding the faculties very badly in front of the students.10 We have had a principal Mr. Mrithunjaya on our college but the management was treating him as a dummy and he had no rights on the
academic matters of the college and two months before he made his resignation because of being totally unsatisfied of the college. However the management has appointed a new principal, Mr. Ramachandran, for satisfying their needs. 11 On Saturdays the colleges affiliated to Calicut university has no class but this college is making classes on Saturdays also, so that we are not getting time to go and visit industriesAnd no duty leaves are sanctioned for such purposes.12 The students of the college are not allowed to participate on events conducted by other colleges even at there self interest. By this the students who have good artistic instinct are gradually loosing it.
13 The newly appointed Director-academic, Mr. Raghavan Nambiar, is of the department of environmental engineering. But he personally with the support of the management, is compelling to buy his own textbook for the subject “Environmental science and engineering” for all 4th semester B.Tech students. The textbook prescribed in the university syllabus is not allowed in the college. There will be serious disciplinary action, in the form of fines, against students who pretend to buy the textbook. It is also to be noted that Mr. Raghavan Nambiar had resigned from the college two years ago and that the college had no particular person as Director-academic since then.
Hereby we are requesting you to arrange an immediate inspection process and take appropriate actions against the college management. It is better if the college is ruled directly under the control of AICTE.DETAILS ABOUT THECOLLEGE:
