I bought at Oxford University Press online bookstore a book A World of Nations - The International Order Since 1945,
written by an American historian William Keylor. In my opinion it is a very good publication. I often use it in my work with my students in Cervantes High School in Warsaw, Poland.
Today I read The Liberation of the Satellites (pp.315-317) and unfortunately I found some errors. Here they are:-
page 315 - is written: (...) a Soviet military intervension (as it had in Poland in 1956 and Czechoslovakia in 1968, should be: (...) a Soviet military intervension (as it had in Hungary in 1956 and Czechoslovakia in 1968;
- page 316 - is written: When free elections were held in June for a third of the upper
house and the entire lower house of the Polish parliament, Solidarity
candidates won almost all of the
contested seats; should be: When free elections were held in June for 35% of the lower house and the entire upper house of the Polish parliament, Solidarity candidates won almost all of the contested seats;
- page 316 - is written: former prime minister Alexander Dubcek, should be: former first secretary of communist party Alexander Dubcek;
- page 317 - is written: (...) reached agreement with the Soviet Union in October 1991 for the withdrawal of Soviet troops by October 1992; should be: (...) reached agreement with the Soviet Union in May 1992 for the withdrawal of Soviet troops by October 1993.
The history of Eastern Europe still is terra incognita even for famous American historians. Pity!
