Book Summary   by:John Hibberd     Original Author: Life in the UK

Life in the UK.

Well some people want to come here from afar and I understand that generally things here are so much better then obvious war torn countries.

But what’s happening in this country is two fold.

1. We have a two-tier system there are the people with money and the people without. Its funny it used to be working class and upper class. Now things have got so twisted its now the people who screw the system and those who don’t...
That seemed a bit extreme, but the middle/working class who keeps there head down and work. We have the most taxes the least benefits. We are expected to pay everything and not complain. We can’t afford private insurances for healthcare; at the dentist and doctors we have to pay for prescriptions etc. Then we look at the media at the massive profits of banks, superstores and so many service companies and we know basically it’s our hard earned cash. No one cares. If you work out some of the poorest people in this country aren’t the ones on the dole or the sick. They are the people who work 40-70 hours to keep there heads above the bread line and have minimal contact with loved ones. The percentage that have the most divorces/ suicides.

2. I said two fold for a reason the other part of the wants happening is greed, we have a culture which breads competition, we are taught it at school and it carries on through our life (I wont even get started about bullying). It can be a good thing and it brings forward developments in technology and science. It can help create worlds. There is a negative side that can bring down countries. We are so into competition we are forgetting the little people. I mentioned earlier about the profit making companies, but what is the true cost.
The shareholders win and the customers pay through the nose. Is this fair...? They say it’s a democracy we live in, and we vote for our piers. So tell me why don’t they benefit the small person?
These people earn the most money have the best connections and lets be honest there only goal is to succeed. So when they make a decision who will it are biased to?
