The Ministry of Power and the Ministry of External Affairs are jointly hosting a South Asian Energy
Dialogue in New Delhi
tomorrow. The Union Minister of Power Mr. Sushil Kumar Shinde will deliver the inaugural address at the
dialogue. Reforms in energy sector, promotion of various non-conventional energy sources, approach and principles to facilitate
development of grid connectivity, gas pipelines, universal access to commercial energy, development of hydro-potential energy efficiency measures and harmonization of standards in the SAARC region, are to be the foucs of the exchanges. Experts, academics, NGOs and representatives of various organisations from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India ,Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Srilanka would be participating in the dialogue. Our correspondent reports that inputs from this energy dialogue would be considered for furthering cooperation in the energy sector in the SAARC region.
