The Union of the body with the soul - Chapter 5: Immanuel Kant

Book Summary by: PabloSantos

Original Author: Pablo Silva Machado Bispo dos Santos
This is the fifth summary of the series of philosophers who I selected with the intúito to demonstrate different positions
in philosophy regarding the question of the union of the body with the soul. In this, we will go to dive in the universe of the philosophy Kantiana, so prodigal in establishing relations with the empirical concepts how much efficient in producing purely rational speculations concerning metaphysics. The Dr. Immanuel Kant, philosopher who (among others things) if never became célebre for having left the German city of Könisberg in them bequeathed a vast patrimony of workmanships. In Portuguese we have few translated (I myself I am in way to the translation of a workmanship that, when to finish I will try to place the summary here exactly in the Shvoong), however some are sufficiently famous, and, by the way they are not intelligible with easiness for the neophytes in the philosophy. Amongst the workmanships translated Portuguese, some are really essential for the understanding of the Kantiano thought: Critical of the Pure, Critical Reason of the Practical and Critical Reason of the College of the Judgment. In these three critical ones we will go to see the long demonstration of Kant regarding the conditions of the human agreement and the relations of this knowledge with the universe (soon I will present a synthesis here in shvoong of these three workmanships). Going a little more in direction to the subject of this article series, we can say that the question of the junction of the soul with the body already appears in the first one of the three critical ones (Critical of the Pure Reason). In this book, Kant carries through a communication regarding the possibility of agreement of the soul human being, as well as of the limits (and possibilities) taxes for the corporal directions. He distinguishes two sensible interns, identified as structures “a priori” (previous to individual experience e, therefore, innate), namely: time and space. Beyond these directions, it places a college called human being Pure Reason, which in allows them to organize the perceptions and sensations without necessarily depending on the aid of the directions. The pure reason for Kant is an entirely pertaining college to the sphere of the soul. The author indicates despite the soul subsiste in the interaction between the body and the college for it called transcendental Apercepção. This college, would be the furniture of the pure reason, ejuntamente comos felt of time and space would be the elements of union of the soul with the body. In this way, we can conclude that the Practical Reason (estruturadora of the Moral Sense) and the Faculdadedo Judgment (responsible for the sense of equality and differentiation) would be elements of second order, appeared with the concrete experience of the man, and necessary so that this enters in relation with its half one. Thus, in Kant we will go to find a metaphysics that considers that the knowledge concerning the unsubstantial nature of the soul, and the mechanisms of junçao with the substance is impossible of if placing in an empirical demonstration for being pure concepts of the agreement, not being then possible to nobody to effect a systematic and universalizável verification concerning the junction between soul and body, despite is unquestionable in the kantiana philosophy, the existence of such linking. In the next summary to the series, we will investigate the question of the junction of the soul with the body in the fenomenologia of Gaston Bachelard. I am thankful the reader intent and interested in philosophy that comes until shvoong to sanction such texts, and dedicate plus this the Dr. Magnus Amaral , with the hope of that these brief clarifications can illuminate the shady aspect of its bitter days and of its inglória fight against all the ones that with it do not agree.
