Real World 3

Book Summary by: likelyculprit

Original Author: J Ward
The soundtrack to
this show also suggests college students as the target audience. Throughout the show they are playing
current
popular songs in the background. These
background songs not only serve as setting the mood of the scenes, but also
attract listeners of that type of music. Many different types of music are played and son this attracts a large
number of people. Also, most of the
songs come from artists that are mainly supported by college students. Thus making the show have a greater appeal
to those college students who enjoy the type of music being played.
One of the most
attractive parts of this show towards college kids, is the similarity to their
own lives in college. This show creates
a very college like atmosphere with the similar aged people and the decorations
of the house. However, it also goes a
step further by letting the people live and room together just like a college
dorm. These seven people live together
in the same place for an extended amount of time with no adult supervision,
much like the many college dorms across the nation. This gives college students who watch this show something they
can relate to. It’s not a subject on
which they know nothing, they know these circumstances well. College kids get to see how others similar
to them, deal with this type of dramatic lifestyle change. It also shows them how others deal with
being with new people and how they deal with disagreements and arguments. But it also shows them how strangers can
come together and form very meaningful relationships. Just like many college students, these people on the show go out
at night and have a social life. They
hang out together and go to clubs and attend concerts. In this episode the group is awarded with
tickets to an Outkast concert. This is
a very popular group for college kids. All of this is interesting to college students around the nation who deal
with these very same issues. Which
makes many of them want to watch the show, and explains why the “Real World” is
one of the most popular shows on MTV, a channel geared toward college students.
