Do We Really Need All These Shoes?

Book Summary   by:JudyRamsook     Original Author: Judy Ramsook
ª

Being the habitual creatures that we are, some people are likely to collect certain items for say a hobby. Some collect things such as various types of watches and other bits of jewellery, toys, books, games, the list can be endless, but unless one is a collector of shoes, are some people just being extravagant when it comes to footwear?

It seems for every pair of walking shoes one has, he or she may also have an extra pair of the same type of footwear, in addition to running shoes, high tops, other athletic sort of shoes, moccassins or slip ons for casual wear, to high heels or pumps, or dress shoes, boots, slippers and so on.

But depending on how active one is, some one who possesses at least one pair of the above mentioned type of shoes might not get much use out of all of them say in the time of an entire year. For example, if some one has two or three pairs of walking shoes and does not participate in this activity often enough, his or her walking shoes might not receive as much action as say, the moccassins which one can just slip on, no shoe laces to tie included. And say one is not as socially active as he or she would probably like to be.

Then, his or her dress shoes might not receive much action either. But nevertheless, there they are stored away on the shoe rack of one’s closet gathering dust. But say an occasion does arise for one to wear such a type of shoe, chances are he or she might think he needs a new pair, for the occasion of course. What happens then is the same dress shoes in the closet might still remain where they are, while that individual goes in search of a new pair of dress shoes.

Footwear is important, they protect one’s feet from the elements and other pollutants and contaminants in the air and for some persons in our midst, shoe collecting is seen as an important and serious hobby, but if one is going to purchase a new pair of shoes whenever the occasion presents itself, regardless of how many pairs of shoes he or she has in the closet, then maybe such shoe power should remain just that. Otherwise, it’s just extravagance.
