Master of the film dream scape David Lynch has been bombarding our
sense now for about 30 years. Traditionally a painter by trade he often
refers to his works as moving painting or tangible existential tasters
if you like. From his nightmarish ''Eraserhead'' to his ''hardy boys go to
hell'' - blue velvet, he has defined and cutout his own genre to the
extent when he makes a new film people no longer compare his film
against other releases at the time but instead compare it against his
own back catalog. Often stereotyped as the guy who does the checkered
floors, dwarfs talking backwards riddles with ominous seedy undertones
(genius twin peaks last episodes), he often references his own work in
his films in a humble tongue in cheek manor or surprises the masses
with a superbly executed massively sentimental release like the
straight story.
