PROMOTING UNUSUAL ARTS
G. Ravishankar
I had the opportunity to interview Sumathi who devoted considerable time
to promote South Indian Artists with immaculate talents. Following is the extract of interview with
her.
GRS How did you get inspiration to create website
about
unusual arts"?
Sum My interest was not only creating a website
on unusual arts, but also to provide some
information on Indian culture, heritage & Arts.
GRS When did you get the idea of
creating the website?
Sum I had space in my server when i started my web
hosting company & decided to use up the space to put up the info.
GRS How did you get information about
creative arts?
Sum I
collect information by referring books and speaking to people interested in
specific fields.
GRS Who inspired you to develop interest in this field?
own interest.
GRS Did you get response from artists or art promoters?
Sum
I have not put up anu information related to selling art. Several
artists have asked me to put up their profile & gallery in my site. I
dont get many mails from art promoters, (perhaps they write directly to the
artists), but I get mails from the general public.

GRS The most attractive place for
unusual art development in South India?
Sum According to me, every form of
art appears good to a set of people at a set time. I like the Tamilnadu
temple murals & sculptures as much as I like the Kerala murals and the
Andhra Kalamkari. Each has its own charm & beauty.
GRS How South Indian artist
could achieve the immaculate skills?
It’s really amazing to hear about the distinguished artist.
