India is transforming and transforming fast. Even as our demographics change, our economic indicators look northwards and
our lifestyle undergo a sea change, we still have to define how we view ourselves as a nation and how we want the world to view us. India needs to be further demystifies, needs to leverage the niche it has carted for itself. Far too long we have allowed others to categorise us, to define us and to classify us. We have to take pride in who we are, what we do because unless we hold ourselves in high esteem sit unlikely that others will do the same. The time has come now when we have the opportunity to recast ourselves o our own terms.
The department of tourism has chosen to describe India as "Incredible India" and it quiet near to the truth. Where else can we have only two central themes –cricket and politics uniting country of over 1 billion that speaks two dozen languages, fosters every surviving region and has limited similarity to one another in food, clothing, customs, climate and culture. It is great time in history to be an Indian. We are on the threshold of becoming one of the front ranking companies on the globe.
Of late, there is a buzz in the air ,the whole world is excited about India. The need is to create a unique and unparalleled image /brand for India as a whole. India ahs so much to offer whether it is in investment, opportunities, scientific and technological innovations, tourist destinations, rich history, ancient civilisation, spiritual and cultural learning, natural beauty or the sheer color and fullness of life.( The writer is a Congress MP and son of late Rajesh Piolt.)
