NEED FOR SPIRITUALITY
Our
modern world is said to have blossomed under the blessings of science & technology. Destroying the Mother Nature,
human societies take pride building a world of their own catering their comforts & luxuries; and having felt to be on a par with the Almighty for creating a world parallel out of their own “brains”. In spite of all the success, in all aspects of living he still lives a
life in fear & fret. Surprisingly, it is seen a modern man is more psychologically weak & lonely than any other generations of the past.
The reason behind is that, he is lost in the labyrinth of materialistic existence. The more he has received education & wealth the more he has pushed himself in the maze of complex lifestyle. We’ve often seen that the more society has progressed the greater it has degenerated in terms of values, humility, morality & simple living. So our contemporary society is not what we call an epitome of remarkable progression, but a rather perverted form of ‘Urizenic mind’.
Human ‘brain’ or the human mind is undoubtedly the seat of all intricacies. And by indulging all our attention here we get only to meet hopeless results. Thereby failing to live up to the expectations set by our own
self we again step to make another blunder. This time we seek help from the hostile world. We keep wandering day after another in search of our answers to our eternal happiness until we break down in anxiety losing the balance in life --- and the inevitable failure ultimately ends in a completion. Till now we have not tried to seek our answers within ourselves. We tried all possible means that our perception can hold but failing to perceive within us with those eternal eyes which are yet to open. If God is omniscient & omnipresent (as our old testimonies say) then he must be residing in us too. After all He is the Creator; He is the Father of all living beings. Then why have we searched Him outside? The answer is Ignorance. We the men were ignorant not to search Him within, or, perhaps too proud to consider it. However there is a very simple saying about it: when man asks how to achieve this God, He says: ‘Turn your face
away from yourself and there is God waiting for you.’
The Modern Man got so obsessively engrossed into the worldly existence that he forgot that he bears an individual ‘Self’. And this realization of Oneself is what ‘God-realization’ is. The more he has moved away from himself the more he has moved away from God & gradually he has lost touch with Him. Thus man lost all the enormous support, values and Life-Force that he provided. Therefore coming back to our theme that is ‘Spirituality’, it is nothing else but a journey into the spirit (soul) of Oneself. One must understand his ‘Value’ in life. If he can sense of what immense potentialities he carries with him shall never make the mistake of turning himself away outwardly. Rather, he will experience the Bliss of being enlightened with all the mysticism that Spirituality bears. Hence the essence of modern life should encompass spiritual life too. For, it is the only way to get back to our roots and thereby strengthen our nerves for meeting the tremendous upheavals of modern life; as Swami Vivekananda remarked, “If the room is
dark ,do you go about beating your chest and cry, ‘ It is dark, dark, dark!’ No. The only way to get light is to strike a light within you and the darkness of sin and impurity will flee away. Think of your higher self, not of your lower”.
