James Patterson, Cross Purposes

Book Summary by: Robor

Original Author: iVillage
This iVillage article is written in an interview-type format. It gives good information about the author, James Patterson.
Author James Patterson has written several fictional novels. Some have been made into movies. Among his works are ‘Season of the Machete,’ ‘The Jericho Commandment,’ ‘Virgin,’ ‘Black Market,’ ‘The Midnight Club,’ ‘Along Came a Spider,’ ‘Kiss the Girls,’ ‘Hide and Seek,’ ‘Miracles on the 17th Green,’ ‘Jack and Jill,’ and ‘Suzanne’s Diary for Nicholas.’ James Patterson grew up fifty miles from New York City, New York, in the United States. He graduated as Valedictorian of his class at the Christian Brothers school. James Patterson went on to obtain a degree in English at Manhattan College. His first novel, ‘The Thomas Berryman Number,’ netted him twenty-six rejection slips before it was accepted by a publisher. It was inspired by his experience of working in a mental institution while he was a college student. While gathering reference material for his books, James has had some interesting experiences. One such experience was when he had heard about people who live the life of vampires. He read several books on the subject, then met with some of the people as he wanted to include something of the underworld of vampires in his novel, ‘Violets Are Blue.’ While in the presence of these pseudo-vampires, a fangmaker offered to make him a pair. Through the years, he has written several best-selling thrillers. When writing his novels, James outlines first and then writes; however, he lets the book take any turn that it will. James lives with his family in Florida. Reading this article will give you a better understanding of author, James Patterson.
