My lot at the moment seems to be writing obituaraies though I guess I take it in my stride as before when teaching
it was a case of pass the parcel ...
I am a regular listener to Ian
McMillan And The Verb on BBC Radio 3 Friday evenings and its a lot of fun and poetry packed into a short show on air ......... last night Ian McMillan was in fine flow but he announced the sad passing of Adrian Mitchell a great
English Poet at Christmas . he will miss him was his comment .. I must admit he was in great company and Frederick Raphael was his guest ... the writer of many a great TV play ..
I quietly got my pen and notebook out and noted down the sad passing of yet another great contributor to English Literature as we have just buried Harold Pinter Nobel Laureate in English at the New Year 09 - Piinter too died on Christmas Eve I believe ............. He had linked his work with mine and the link was surely uncanny ........... still we make room for the new ..
Sorry to say .. its a sad business but then they used to say about us ordinary folk if we lived to 60 something .. had a good innings old Fred or Sara ........ nice work for all poets .. I am a poet and I show it ....
