Amazed as I often am at the world of Poets and Poetry and the need to die for the Art of Poetry always strikes me as an awkward
angle on how to live and write ......... but nevertheless I have been so to speak standing with The Greats in Literature here in the UK and selected as a
Favourite .. I mentioned Poet but the Young Man at Waterstones BookStore corrected me thus: "Good heavens!" No! We didnt select you as our favourite poet .. favourite writer!" Well! I jumped back a step or two in the shop and thought I had best stick to my American Publisher and get on with it all.
So I did I turned up with Greats and Favourite Poets such as:
Wendy Cope - Bloody Men
Tom Paulin - Ice Cube
WH Auden - ---
WB Years -
William Blake ...
Adrian Mitchell ...
I had some fun and enjoyment and the pleasure is all mine as now In Retirement from the
Diplomatic Service Foreign Office, London I can tune in listen .enjoy!
I would add, however, that the Poets reading their own Poems is a "turn on" a treat and I dont seem to have much to complain about in terms of clarity and delivery but I suppose in the British Accent Age its a way to dump any accent whether clipped or not .. or created by these Great Poets .. and invent a new one ........... thats to come ... Lovely work ..keep on keeping on ...
