During my teaching career full time and Diplomatic Services in London stretching over a period of 20 years .... I got involved
with the Soap ... East Enders and as a family we watched it with great interest and loved the twists and turns of its major players. So its with sadness that I read today from Sky blog that Wendy
Richard died at 65 from Cancer in a London Hospital .. she played the character
Pauline Fowler in East Enders and she held the role for 20 years.
She was a legend in her day and she was diagnosed several years back with cancer but she managed to fight back for a few more years. Wendy Richard was married three times and all of her marriages ended in divorce but her final partner John Burns and Wendy Richard were married last year and they were together for 12 years.
Wendy Richard went to a Girls School and she also attended The Italia Conti Academy for Drama in London .. she had a major part in the TV Series ... "Are you being served" as Miss Brahms but she will be fondly remembered for her legendary role in the famous best selling series The East Enders ... i.e. as Pauline Fowler. As an Examiner jetting in and out of London to Sit on The Board and Sit on Committee at The London Poetry Society .. it was a fine ending to my busy schedule to turn on the TV Series in my Hotel in Hammersmith London and watch The East Enders ... In fact I looked forward to it .. it was a way of relaxing at the end of a busy schedule ...... Condolences to Wendy Richard and to her friends and colleagues. she will be missed! She got the MBE sometime ago for her work in this specialist field! Nice work!
