The Veteran Broadcaster is linked with Jane Austen but arent we all in some senses indebted to the great writers of English Literature especially Jane Austen. Pride and Prejudice, and other masterpieces - many followers of the literary tradition end up at Winchester Cathedral where the Cathedral Floor with the longest walkway in European Cathedral history marks the gravestone of Jane Austen.
So much so that my Italian students were marched quickly in and out of Winchester Cathedral to take a look at the history of the Cathedral at Winchester but also to gaze upon the gravestone of Jane Austen and of course rather like the German Tourists described by broadcaster John Sergeant we all took in the great literary history of Britain of English Writers famed throughout the world and echoed in films and theatre.
